There were 42 apples in each crate. 12 such crates of apples were delivered to a company. 4 apples were rotten and had to be thrown away. The remaining apples were packed in to boxes of 10 apples each. How lots of boxes of apples were there?
Solution:
Find the total number of apples delivered to a company.
12 × 42 = 504
The total number of apples delivered to company was 504.
Get the number of remaining apples.
504 – 4 = 500
Get the number of boxes of apples.
500 ÷ 10 = 50
There were 50 boxes of apples
Solution:
